Our hot take? We recognize that National CBD Day began as 1 part marketing ploy and 1 part CBD awareness builder. This year is a reclaim moment, we’re here to make National CBD Day our own, and we’re celebrating with some tea, wellness, and sales.
To kick things off, let’s unpack National CBD Day.
1. Social Justice and The Lack Of It
In 2019 Kush Queen CEO Olivia Alexander shared the tweet, “First, they put millions of people in jail for cannabis. Now, they have a National CBD day. HMMM, ok.”
If National CBD Day is about spreading awareness of the cannabinoid, we expect brands to bring awareness to all sides of the industry. Especially the disparity between the past and present attitude on legal cannabinoids, lack of diverse representation within the industry, and supporting the greater community.

2. The Need for Transparency within the CBD Industry
CBD has been on a meteoric rise to mainstream access. Despite being able to buy CBD everywhere from gas stations to high-end hotels, many people don’t understand how to evaluate what they are putting into their bodies when it comes to cannabinoids.
When buying CBD, always check for COAs (Certificate of Analysis), look for the type of cannabinoids used in products, and understand how the CBD is processed.
Companies that care about transparency will have information readily available about their lab testing, sourcing, and processing.
3. The Truth About The CBD Industry
CBD hit the market as a hot new active ingredient that so many industries could use along with the promise of a natural over-the-counter cure-all and a very loose public connection to cannabis.
Do brands take advantage of that? 100%
Are consumers buying products that have no real connection to wellness? Absolutely.
